The 4th International Documentary Film Festival "Artdocfest/Riga" will be held from March 1 to 8. The two competition programs – "Baltic Focus" and "Artdocfest Open" – will provide an opportunity to watch more than 30 intriguing documentaries. The audience will also be offered several special screenings and three thematic programs – "ArtDoc & ProArt", "Ukraine Above All" and "Peace in War".
This year's IDFF "Artdocfest/Riga" will be opened with the premiere of the film about the outstanding Latvian documentary filmmaker Juris Podnieks – "Podnieks On Podnieks. A Witness To History", which was created by directors Antra Cilinska and Anna Viduleja at the film production company “Juris Podnieks Studio”.
Interviews, previously unpublished diary entries, photographs and film fragments reveal the twists and turns of his creative personality growth. J. Podnieks was able to speak directly and openly about time, society, individual and nation, searching for answers to difficult questions in history and encouraging the self-confidence of his people.
"Artdocfest/Riga" will present its screenings in the traditional venues – at the cinema "Splendid Palace" and at the Zuzeum Art Center.
