Sur l’île désertique d’Ostrov, en mer Caspienne, une poignée d’habitants, délaissée de l’État russe depuis la chute de l’Union soviétique, vit sans route, ni électricité, ni emploi. Emprisonné à plusieurs reprises pour braconnage, Ivan n’a pas le choix. Pour nourrir sa famille, il continue de pratiquer la pêche illégale.
