The Second World War left emotional scars that, almost seventy years after its end, are causing suffering for more than one generation of people in Ukraine. Tamara was born in 1942, her mother is a young Russian nurse, and her unfamiliar father must be a Russian officer. Tamara and Johan's film is a personal family story based on the mother's war memories and family photographs showing her carefree life before the war. Tamara also remembers her own childhood, and also asks relatives and former front-line nurses in Ukraine, and then builds puzzle pieces into a complex history of the 20th century.
