The Long Way Home est le portrait révélateur et plein d’entrain que Michael Apted dresse de Boris Grebenshchikov, légende du rock underground soviétique, lors de son odyssée vers l’Occident en 1988 pour y enregistrer un album et le ramener chez lui, à l’aube de la glasnost, en ces jours d’optimisme. Remastérisé en 4K et disponible pour la première fois depuis plus de 30 ans, le film est suivi d’un épilogue co-réalisé par Steven Lawrence et Susanne Rostock (respectivement productrice et monteuse du film) qui fait le point sur le parcours de Boris jusqu’à aujourd’hui, notamment son installation en Angleterre après s’être élevé contre l’invasion russe de l’Ukraine.

THE LONG WAY HOME is Michael Apted’s revealing, rollicking portrait of Soviet underground rock legend Boris Grebenshchikov, during his 1988 odyssey to the West to record an album and bring it back home in the early, optimistic days of Glasnost. The film also features Boris’s legendary Russian band Aquarium, and Dave Stewart, with special appearances by Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynde, Ray Cooper, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Remastered in 4K and available for the first time in over 30 years, it is followed by an epilogue co-directed by Steven Lawrence and Susanne Rostock (the film’s producer and editor) that brings Boris’s journey up to date, including his exile from Russia for speaking out against the invasion of Ukraine.
