Although there is still emergency situation ruling in the country, we - the organizers of the festival have not lost our ideals and believe that the most important for the film festival is to keep cinema live and have live viewers!
We have therefore decided to organize a “home-delivery” of the films and shoot a documentary about it.
How is this going to organized?
The festival team brings the film to a spectator or a limited group of “one bubble/one household” spectators. Size of the group will depend on the regulations and restrictions in the region, but we promise – those will be excited viewers! We will screen for a large family at the country-side, we will screen for a team of cooks in their empty restaurant, we will screen for prisoners and youth commune inhabitants etc.
The premier of the film is followed by a discussion with the spectator or group of spectators. When possible the author participates in Q&A online.
The members of the festival Jury are watching the films on the big screen. The closing ceremony is taking place on May 3rd at 10 p.m. and the winners and prizes are announced. The broadcast will be shown on the "Current Time" TV channel and on the channel's Youtube page.
Screenings of the films for the wide audience in the cinema hall, during which a real meeting with the author of the film will take place, is planned to be organized in the second half of August, which will be reported separately.
Important! From May 1-3 the documentary film symposium is taking place.
1st of May at 11.00 online discussion “The Mission of the Documentary Filmmaker in the World Without Barricades or What Would Juris Podnieks Film Today?” (participants – Baltic filmmakers).
2nd of May at 11.00 discussion “The nice afternoon snap of documentary filmmakers” (outdoor location for limited groups of participants – Latvian filmmakers, as well as online).
3rd of May at 11.00 philosopher Uldis Tirons in conversation with Victor Kossakovsky (no other participants).
Reportages from the film premieres, symposium and closing will be broadcasted online, as well as through other media channels.
All security measures in force in the country will be provided during the implementation of the festival.
